Start of training EPD specialists in Iran; A new step for the development of green industry and sustainable exports
July 14, 2025 The Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture hosted the first specialized course Training of EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) Specialists; An event that could be a turning point in the development of green industry, carbon management, and increasing the competitiveness of Iranian products in global markets.
This training program was not just a specialized course, but also the beginning of the formation of the first generation of specialists who will be responsible for preparing and managing environmental identity cards for products. In a situation where many international markets, especially the European Union, have made environmental information transparency and the provision of EPD a requirement for trade and export, training specialized human resources in this field is a strategic necessity for the country’s industries.
In this course, participants will be familiarized with the concepts and new tools of Product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Calculating Carbon Footprint, Water Footprint and methods for compiling a product environmental declaration were introduced. This knowledge helps industries to scientifically and documentedly assess the environmental impacts of their products and align with international standards.
On the other hand, the implementation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in the European Union has created new conditions for exporting goods. Within this framework, industries need to provide accurate information about the carbon emissions and environmental performance of products in order to maintain their export markets. EPD specialists will play an important role in preparing organizations to meet these requirements and increase their competitiveness in global markets.
The Iranian Green Management Association has taken an important step in developing specialized knowledge in green management, low-carbon economy, and new sustainability standards by holding this course. Training this generation of specialists can pave the way for export development, increased environmental transparency, improved resource efficiency, and the country’s industries to move towards sustainable production and a green economy.
This event marks the beginning of a new path for establishing a culture of environmental management in Iranian industries and creating the necessary infrastructure for the effective presence of Iranian products in international markets; a path on which the future of global trade will depend more than ever.
